More About Me

In my free time, being an early adopter of tech, I spend time a lot of time researching and finding gadgets and quirks through reddit, youtube, XDA developer forums (etc) trying to look into new tech and gadgets. I am trying my hand into video blogging about some of the gadgets i own.

Graduate School and Being in the Design lab has been a very transformative phase in my career and personal life as a researcher and a designer. For almost 2 years now, I have been a part of the Design Lab here in San Diego headed by Don Norman where I have worked on couple of research studies and projects in education, healthcare, games research. Also due to my project with SAP, I have gained a lot of developed a lot of interested in how organisations

Being a part of the Deisgn Lab, I also got lucky enough to meet and converse and take weeklong classes/workshop with industry researchers such as Daniel Russell (Google), Bill Buxton, Bobby Ghosal & Jared Erondu (High resolution podcast members) and pick their brains on

As a passionate design thinker, I am always curious to learn how organizations and teams form innovative design thinking process. And thus when I am not researching or designing, I love attending or conducting design thinking workshops for non designers.

I firmly believe a succesful product is a combination of design, tech and business in broad terms and in terms of thinking of the T-shaped whatever, I believe though my expertise lies in design and research, I am trying to broaden my scope in different aspects of technolgy and gaining knowlege in business end.

Something that i am currently really interested in the aspect of scaling designing thinking in the organization.

Hi. I am Rahul, a User Experience Researcher and Designer who is quite passionate about the integration of art, design and technology and loves making interesting, well-thought out user-centered products and interfaces.

I am really passionate about working in inter-disciplinary projects related to healthcare, education and entertainment. Few topics that really piques my interests in HCI includes Usability Evaluation, Ubiquitous computing, Information Architecture, UX Focused Game Design and Research and Data Visualization.

In addition to being a designer, I love to explore places and click pictures of landscapes and wildlife. In my free time, I also game quite often and I try to follow football (soccer) whenever possible.

Currently I am working in The Design Lab at UC San Diego headed by Don Norman and Michele Morris (advisor) on a project to scale design thinking into higher education in collaboration with SAP Research.

My experience with engineering, design and business has made me understand that you can only make a product successful when you have a right mixture of team from all 3 domains collaborating together with the users, in a common space, for a common goal of innovation. Why ? Because I believe its equally important for each domain to empathize with each other apart from empathizing with the USER.
